Most humans are right-pawed. Most cats are highly ambidextrous with a slight left-paw dominance. The past few evenings my adult female has been watching me eat.
I no longer gobble food from a bowl like a savage house cat. I capture my food from the purple prong plate where my humans pour it (in pitilessly small quantities.) At first I didn't know what to do with it. My humans had been away for a week and when they returned they suddenly plopped this odd thing down and poured food into. I was pretty sure they'd contracted Zika virus or something horrible. I soon realized, however, that it is a lot of fun to capture your food and flick it around. In fact, I stopped eating any food they might put in my bowl and only eat from the purple prong plate.
So my adult female human has been watching me eat. She has noticed that somewhere between 60 and 70 percent of the time I use my left paw to capture kibble. I am glad she is admiring me, but isn't that a weird thing to be counting?
Counting birds, now that makes sense. In our yard we have higher concentrations of some birds in some locations and other birds in other spots. Time of day makes a difference. For example, according to my fastidious studies, three out of five bird's visiting the feeder near the older juvenile Fenske's window between the hours of 6:30 and 7:30 are cardinals. I like them. They are red and fluttery. Their heads look so tasty. I believe that their little wings would be so wonderful flapping against my head as I carry the bird to a dining spot. I bet they taste like buffalo turkey deli meat. I like that. Mmmmm cardinals.
